Our body only produces small amounts of these important fatty acids; therefore we need to rely on other sources for this essential nourishment. Seafood is one of the best sources of these nutrients. In fact, oils are the second biggest components in most seafood. Eating seafood just once or twice a week can provide good health benefits. Eating fresh seafood is a great way to obtain your required dose of these essential oils. Oils extracted from seafood are also available as nutritional supplements.

Oils derived from seafood help prevent some of the most deadly diseases today, including Alzheimer’s disease, asthma, arteriosclerosis, bipolar disorder, bronchitis, cancer, heart diseases and more. The omega-3 oils decrease the risk of heart diseases, high blood pressure and rheumatoid arthritis. They are also beneficial to infants’ brain and eye development. The oils in seafood can also prevent osteoporosis. This is because the oils improve calcium absorption in our bones and can prevent the bones from becoming brittle.

According to recent findings, Omega-3 also helps improve people’s immune functions, thereby reducing infections. Seafood oils are known to have properties that lower blood pressure, benefiting especially those suffering from hypertension. Another kind of oil found in seafood is the omega-6 fatty acid. This is important for growth and plays an important role in people’s health and well-being. Eating a seafood diet can also help you reduce weight. For years, seafood has been part of many weight loss programs. This is because, unlike diet pills, seafood is natural and has beneficial properties to people.

Therefore, you should cook it the day you buy it. Here are some tips for preparing seafood: If you do not plan to cook the fresh seafood the day you buy it, you should store it for no longer than two days at very cold temperatures. If you are going to thaw the fish, keep it in the refrigerator or thaw it under cold water. Do not leave it to thaw on your kitchen counter. This is because the nutritional value of the seafood may diminish. You can prepare many delicious seafood dishes from great seafood recipes. You can fry or grill seafood. You can combine it with fruits and vegetables to make it even more delicious. You can marinate it and further enhance its flavor and get rid of its unique smell. Some people do not want to eat seafood for fear of choking on the tiny bones. In this case you can request the fish store to help you remove these fish bones.

A barbecue is a simple piece of equipment for cooking food with the heat and hot gas of a fire, smoking wood or hot coals of charcoal. You would usually have a charcoal barbecue or gas barbecue. Apparently, most people believe the barbecue come from the Caribbean where the food was either put on a platform above the fire and resting on sticks, or placed in a hole dug in the ground and then covered. Barbecuing is widespread throughout the world from The United Kingdom to Korea and the United States of America and has various regional variations. It actually tends to be a social event when friends gather and have fun. There is actually a world championship barbecue cooking contest taking place in Memphis in the United States of America every year in May.

Cooking meat, fish, vegetables or anything else on a barbecue is more of an outdoor activity as a barbecue would usually create a lot of smoke depending on who is cooking and with what. When cooking food on a barbecue, you should be aware that whether you use wood, charcoal or gas, your food will taste differently.
Actually more and more people are buying gas barbecues.

Apart form that, you can now find very useful BBQ tools that will be greatly helpful for cooking without burning your hands every time you try to turn a piece of meat and so making a barbecue an even more attractive outdoor activity. You would still have to be careful when cooking food on a barbecue though! People tend to forget that not properly cooked food can get you into trouble as you could have eaten bacteria. So do not forget to make sure you cook your meat properly, wash your hands and the different surfaces really often… Basically, be careful when you cook food on a barbecue and make sure you think about doing it the clean and safe way.

Another interesting debate is to know who is usually controlling the barbecue between men and women? And according to some psychologists, men would tend more to want to control the barbecue as it would allow them to play legally with fire. All this going back to prehistoric times where the fire was such a vital resource.

Getting your restaurant equipment and extensive supplies together will be a simply tiresome process at the least. You need to find out whether your budget will allow for a certain level of equipment that will be sufficient for your requirements. One of the easiest ways to start getting into the process will be searching online given our new information age. You no longer have to necessarily look locally for your equipment since it will be a major investment so the cost effectiveness of traveling to go a certain range of miles in getting the equipment you need may be warranted.

It might be helpful to start searching through available products offered by food service equipment establishments that have the items you need. You also could have a good chance of finding quality used restaurant equipment that will suit your requirements but would also be cost effective. Going this route could actually save you quite a lot of money that you might better invest into other areas of your new restaurant store.

The equipment you will likely need will include items like coffee dispensers, dishwashers, bar equipment, refrigerators and freezers, restaurant furniture, and numerous other items that will slowly drain your budget. Of course, it really depends on how large and what type of your restaurant will be as to what equipment you will need. However, assuming that most people want to keep their restaurant going for as long as possible, good-quality equipment even if it’s used will obviously be the best route long-term.

My Popcorn Machine is the leading retailer for concession equipment & restaurant supplies like popcorn makers, snow cone ice shavers, cotton candy machines, hot dog rollers from Cretors, Benchmark USA, Paragon International, Gold Medal Product, Comstock Castle, and many more other quality brands!

They now also offer kitchenware, bakeware, barware, and pet supplies to serve the different needs of their customers with their goal is to create and serve a community with different interests and passions.

Food hygiene is all conditions and measures necessary to ensure the safety and suitability of food at all stages of the food chain, encompasses a wide range of measures that can be applied from the growth of food products and the raising of food animals, through harvesting and slaughter, processing, delivery, storage and final sale. However, for many, food hygiene will be equated with cleanliness; the cleanliness of food premises and food handlers.

Whilst the cleanliness of those who handle food and their equipment and surroundings is essential for good food hygiene to occur it is only one of the measures necessary if food is to be safely prepared.

Of equal or perhaps even more importance in maintaining good standards of food hygiene is the avoidance of cross-contamination and good temperature control. Cross-contamination is the passing of food poisoning bacteria from contaminated, usually raw food to ready-to-eat food. Such cross-contamination can occur in three ways, direct contact of e.g. raw meat with ready-to-eat food, the drip of raw food juices such as blood onto a ready-to-eat food and the use of unwashed hands or equipment to handle both raw food and ready-to-eat food.

Good temperature control is essential if satisfactory standards of food hygiene are to be achieved. In most investigations that occur following the outbreak of a food-borne disease a failure in temperature control is identified as one of causes of the event. Foods which are suitable media for the growth of pathogenic (disease producing) bacteria – mainly moist high protein foods such as meat, eggs and dairy products – must be kept either cold or hot. They should not be allowed to languish in the danger zone between 5°C – 63°C for any longer than absolutely necessary.

This means that good food hygiene practices will include the correct storage of cold food at 5°C or below and hot food at 63°C or above. Good food hygiene will also require that food is properly cooked and if not used straightaway that it is cooled quickly to 5°C and if reheated later that this is done quickly to a good temperature.

As far as cooking and reheating temperatures are concerned for potentially contaminated foods, like raw meat and poultry, the usual recommendations in food hygiene textbooks is 75°C for 30 seconds.

Besides cleanliness, temperature control and the avoidance of cross contamination food hygiene measures will also include a safe supply of water for food preparation and cleaning, pest control and the proper training of staff in the principles of food hygiene.

The modern approach to food hygiene puts considerable emphasis on food safety management systems, which are designed to provide assurance that the correct food hygiene practices are always in place. So food hygiene really is a wide discipline and its implementation requires commitment and investment in time and money by those who carry the responsibility of providing and preparing food for consumption by the public.

There are two sides of the same coin. You may have heard arguments on both sides regarding healthy foods and fast foods. You may have asked yourself one time or another, are all fast food fat foods? Can you binge on fast food without worrying about your health? How can you eat fast food and still stay healthy? Most of the food offered by fast food restaurants are deep-fried or heated up in the microwave. These processes of food preparation take minimum time unlike home cooked meals. As a result, most fast food products have high calories and are practically swimming in trans-fat.

If you take all of these into consideration, then yes, fast food is fat food. Health experts have grounds why they are against eating fast food products. On the other hand, it does not mean that you have to forego fast food altogether to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Fast food restaurants were a hit because they serve food in minimum time, in good taste, and in lesser price. So how are you going to make the two ends meet?

When health issues were raised, fast food restaurants come up with possible solutions to make their menu appealing to health buffs. They added salads, fresh fruit, and white meat to widen the selection of their consumers. Also, nutritional facts are made available so that people would have an idea how many calories are in their orders. These restaurants are doing their part but why is it that they are still being blamed?

You should know when to stop eating fast food, if you want to live a long life, you. Moderation is the key. You cannot have burgers and fries all the time. If you can’t stay away from fast food, check out the other side of the menu. Instead of a Big Mac, why don’t you order a regular burger? If a regular burger is not good enough for you, just avoid add-ons like cheese, bacon, or mayonnaise sauce.

Other add-ons can be tasty without the fat like onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mustard. Skip additional toppings in your pizza. Even though a slice of chocolate cake makes your mouth water, better order a low-fat yogurt or ice cream for dessert. Lastly, forget about the upsize promo. It will save you from calories and save a few pennies too.

There are a lot of areas in a restaurant business which needed scrutinizing. There are areas of primary concern that an owner or manager should always look after. The good service, food and affordability are just one of the few restaurant concerns. Nobody really knows what are going to be the major changes that await restaurant owners and restaurant businesses but the trends with food are certain to grow and improve and even evolve in the next coming years.

Today, there are about 4 out of 10 restaurant diners each day. That means; more and more people find it easier, comfortable and fast to dine at restaurants at least once a day. Because of this increasing interest and changing diner traits, restaurants should also adjust and make sure that they serve only the freshest, safest and healthy food for their frequent customers.

In the following restaurant and food trend, Self-medication and disease-free food is the top requirement. It’s not all about the taste of the food or the look of it that matter to customers but also, the healthy benefits it gives off. Customers who are health-conscious would know whether the fresh vegetable you serve is really fresh. As the restaurant owner, you wouldn’t want to have your business affected by comments as small as this one. But all small things grow to be big so watch out for this part.

Speaking of freshness would usually appeal to most customers especially when you have a wide selection of freshly baked items, salads, sauces and other produce. Your customers will benefit the same health and nutrition goodness by serving the mentioned fresh selection. This doesn’t only increase your restaurant’s “health consciousness” reputation but customers will find it even safer to dine frequently because of the clean food.
